Float-over Installation of Asia’s Largest Offshore Oil Production Platform Successfully Completed

On August 1, 2022, the float-over installation of Asia’s largest offshore oil production platform—the Enping 15-1 Central Platform was successfully completed in the Pearl River Mouth Basin.
The Enping 15-1 Central Platform is the most important offshore facility of Enping Oilfields Development Project. Consisting of a 18,880 T topside and jackets, it is the heaviest offshore production platform with most equipment in Asia. Its total length is about 160 m, and its total weight is more than 30,000 tons.
COOEC has mobilized “HAI YANG SHI YOU 229”, Asia’s largest offshore barge, for the offshore float-over installation of the Enping 15-1 Central Platform. To ensure the safety and smooth progress of offshore installation, the project team has organized multiple sessions of technical briefing and job safety analysis, continuously optimized the operation plan, conducted repeated inspections on the restricted area of float-over installation, performed simulation and water-pool experiment on float-over installation, rehearsed various sequences of the operation such as the distribution of the mooring system, entry of the working vessel, alignment and load transfer, and carried out emergency drills on the failure of mooring lines. The project team overcame multiple challenges, such as extreme sea states and precision control during offshore installation, and completed the accurate positioning of the topside in only 15 hours at one attempt.
COOEC has constructed a series of key equipment for offshore installation represented by “HAI YANG SHI YOU 229”, Asia’s largest offshore barge, completed the float-over installation of more than 30 large offshore platforms with a total weight of over 400,000 tons, developed the key technologies for all kinds of float-over operations, such as high-position float-over, low-position float-over, and dynamically positioned float-over operations, under various weather conditions in all kinds of sea areas, and reached the world-leading level in terms of the type/number, difficulty and technical complexity of float-over operations.
