Functional orientation: as a subordinate to COOEC Engineering Company, the welding laboratory is committed to providing welding R&D and related services for offshore projects in China, constantly transforming scientific and technological innovations and achievements into production capacity, and serving the development of domestic welding technology and the Company’s production needs. The business scope of the laboratory includes the design, construction and installation of offshore structures, subsea technologies, LNG and other sectors. And its service scope covers the whole EPCI processes of various projects. In 2018, the welding laboratory worked with Tianjin University to jointly build the Tianjin Key Laboratory for advanced welding techniques and weld evaluation in the field of offshore engineering. It was officially recognized as a Key Laboratory in Tianjin on January 26, 2021.

As a front runner in the fieldkey laboratory, the welding laboratory aims to establish a laboratory platform for the development of common key welding technologies for offshore structures and equipment and for the testing, evaluation and analysis of the special service performance, service life, safety and reliability of offshore structures/core components and auxiliary materials. It is dedicated to independently developing a series of key welding techniques for offshore projects and a system of technologies and qualifications for testing and evaluating the special performance of core components of offshore oil/gas equipment, establishing a set of relevant industry or company-level technical standards, building a team of high-end talents proficient with the use of technologies for welding and manufacturing oil and gas equipment operating in deep waters and polar areas, playing a leading role in the development of China’s offshore oil/gas equipment manufacturing industry, and attaining international competitive advantage.

Professional team and conditionsfacilities: the welding laboratory has 33has a professional team of 33 welding technicians, among which including 20 technicians received with senior professional titles,, a test site covering with an area of 4000 m2, and 70 pieces (sets) of experimental equipment/facility.
