Project: Deep Sea No.1 (Lingshui 17-2 Gas Field Development Project)

Time of completion: June 2021

Project introduction: As China’s first ultra-deep water (1,500m) gas field, “Deep Sea No.1” is located in Lingshui, China. About 150km southeast of Sanya, Hainan with water depth ranges from 1,220m to 1,560m. The designed gas production capacity and commercial gas export capacity is 3.25 billion cubic meters per annum and 3 billion cubic meters per annum respectively. The scope of work includes the design, construction and installation/laying of one semi-submersible production and storage platform, one subsea production system, 17 submarine pipelines, 11 umbilicals, and other facilities.

Project highlights: The core facility of the project, known as the “Deep Sea No.1 Energy Station”, is the world’s first 100,000 tons deepwater semi-submersible production and storage platform, in which three advanced technologies in the international level and thirteen in the national level are adopted for the first time and its design fatigue life could exceed 150 years. Under the stringent standards, the station can withstand extreme weather conditions like super typhoons unseen in a century and deliver the promise of “no docking in 30 years”.

COOEC completed the construction of the “Deep Sea No.1 Energy Station” in only 21 months. The final assembly, loading and precision control has reached the world-leading level and many gaps in the construction techniques for 1,500m water depth have been filled, setting notable records of “China Speed”, “China Precision” and “China Depth”.
