First 100 Billion Cubic Meter Gas Field Platform in Bohai Bay Completed

Date:2023-06-02

On May 26th, the Bohai Bay's first 100 billion cubic meter gas field central platform for Bohai Block 19-6 condensate gas field, contracted entirely by COOEC, has been successfully constructed in Qingdao. Upon its operation within the year, the project is anticipated to provide stable and reliable clean energy and chemical products for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the surrounding Bohai Sea region, which will play a significant role in safeguarding national energy security and contributing to the achievement of China's "dual carbon" strategic goals.

The first phase of the Bohai Block 19-6 condensate gas field project will construct a new central processing platform, three unmanned wellhead platforms, and a terminal processing plant, in addition to laying eight subsea pipelines and three subsea cables, and planning for a total of 76 wells.

Bohai Block 19-6's central platform is an eight-legged, multifunctional integrated marine oil and gas platform that combines production and living facilities. The platform stands 32 meters high, 65 meters long, and 56 meters wide, with a total weight of the central platform exceeding 12,000 tons. The total length of the pipelines reaches 29,000 meters, and the number of welds is up to 36,000, all of which have passed the final inspection with a 100% qualification rate. The platform's designed oil and gas processing capacity exceeds 5 million tons per year, with trial production expected to begin by the end of the year.

The platform is equipped with two sets of natural gas deep dehydration devices, which are domestically designed and integrated for the first time. After processing through these devices, natural gas will not precipitate water even under a high pressure of 52 megapascals and a temperature of minus 38 degrees Celsius. This technology reaches an international leading level and can significantly enhance the stable gas supply capacity of the oilfield.

Bohai Block 19-6 condensate gas field is located in the central sea area of the Bohai Sea. It is the first large-scale, fully equipped, high-yielding gas field with extraordinarily high condensate content in the eastern part of China. Currently, the proven geological reserves of natural gas exceed 2000 billion cubic meters, and the proven geological reserves of condensate oil exceed 200 million cubic meters.
