Topsides of China’s First Offshore Oil/Gas Equipment “Intelligent Manufacturing” Project Successfully Completed

Date:2022-07-27

As the deck panels weighing 613 tons were safely placed in position on July 20, 2022, China’s first offshore oil/gas equipment “intelligent manufacturing” project——the construction of the eastern and western topsides for Bozhong 29-6 oilfield development project (the Bozhong 29-6 project) was fully completed, marking the achievement of a key milestone in the onshore construction work of this project.

The Bozhong 29-6 project is a pilot and demonstration project for “intelligent manufacturing” of offshore oil and gas equipment in China. In the basic design phase, a standard and intelligent design philosophy was adopted. At the project execution stage, COOEC employed multiple innovative, advanced technologies that were first used in the industry, such as the “large-scale robotic welding technique for offshore oil and gas equipment”. The Company established a complete intelligent process covering various links from project management and control to shop fabrication and developed a new mode of intelligent manufacturing that is proven, replicable and extendable, providing strong support and driving force for the transformation and upgrading of China’s offshore oil/gas equipment manufacturing industry.

Since the commencement of construction in the fourth quarter of 2021, COOEC has achieved resource-based automatic scheduling of production and construction tasks relying on the DIMS (a digital intelligent manufacturing system) and advanced scheduling tools and made outstanding achievements in information sharing, transmission and feedback as well as efficiency improvement. With the intelligent structure prefabrication workshop, COOEC has increased the efficiency of plate/rod cutting by 29%, saved 67% manpower, and improved the average efficiency of carbon steel pipe prefabrication/welding by 22% compared with the traditional production modes.
